9th July 2012
The twelve Team GB fencers took the day off from training on Thursday 5th July to spend some time with Beazley before they go into Olympic lockdown.
The athletes started their day by participating in a photo shoot at iconic London sites including on top of One New Change overlooking St Paul's Cathedral, and moved onto Beazley's office roof for some videoed interviews with the City vista behind them.
After a couple of media interviews the team was introduced to Beazley's 500 London employees at a lunchtime announcement. Beazley employees had already been split into the Red, Blue, Green, Yellow and Black teams with corresponding wristbands, and the fencers drew colour-coded foam swords to find out which team they would be joining. A team Q&A session followed with the fencers before the day got serious and each team competed in the first task of the office games - the ‘throw as many foam swords into a bin as possible in one minute’ event...
The day was a great send off for our British fencers as we wish them the very best of luck at the Olympics in a couple of weeks’ time.
