Beazley guests and passers-by were treated to a stylish fencing demonstration in the grand setting of Devonshire Square, London last night.
Part of a series of events to promote Beazley’s £1million sponsorship of British Fencing, the pink team of Lizzie Highton, James Davies, Craig McCann and Jo Hutchison beat the grey team 45-44, which consisted of Jenny McGeever, Husayn Rosowsky, David Heaton and Chrystall Nicoll. A number of Beazley guest also took part in the event in a bespoke team format refereed expertly by Gildas Braine.
Graham Bell, former Olympic Skier and the BBC’s lead commentator for fencing at the 2012 Games, was master of ceremonies and welcomed the fencers to the piste. He also conducted in depth interviews with Ian Hoy (Beazley), Chrystall Nicoll and Jo Hutchison and finally Justine Wilmott and Craig McCann.
During the fencing Beazley’s guest were asked to name Beazley’s newly created fencing cocktail in a mini-competition. Dawn Dietman won with the name “Blazing Sabre” and she took to the stage for the prize giving and was presented with a four foot version of the drink.
Piers Martin, Chief Executive was present at the evening’s entertainment and said: “Beazley have yet again chosen a fantastic location to showcase our sport and created a spectacular event. It was a great pleasure to have some of our top athletes here to support the partnership. As always I’d like to thanks Beazley for their continued support, without which we wouldn’t be able to achieve a lot of what we are doing today.”
