British Fencing’s no.3 Junior Sabreur and ‘Local Hero’, Soji Aiyunero, was invited to St. Pancras to attend the unveiling of the London2012 Olympic Torch. Along with Denise Lewis, Jonathan Edwards, Lord Seb Coe and several other ‘Lloyds TSB Local Heroes’, Soji held the prototype of the new Torch.

Soji said “I was really proud to be involved with the launch of the Olympic Torch. I am very excited about the 2012 Games being held in London, and after being lucky enough to hold the new Torch I am even more inspired to do everything I can to represent Great Britain in fencing in the 2016 Olympics.”
8,000 torchbearers will carry the Olympic Flame around the UK during the 70-day Olympic Torch Relay, which starts at Land’s End on May 19 2012. The 2ft7in-long, gold-coloured lightweight beacon is perforated with 8,000 holes to represent the number of torchbearers who will cover the route next year.
